The owners of a glass plant that makes Pyrex cookware have delayed its scheduled closing for two months until April.
Corelle Brands is moving its production from Charleroi, Pennsylvania to Lancaster, Ohio, USA.
It notified the state Department of Labor and Industry that its decision to delay the closing from February 17 to April 30 is the result of what it refers to as the company’s operational needs through the transition of the plant closing, according to the Worker Adjustment and Retraining notification it filed.
The first layoffs were scheduled to begin in January rather than before Christmas as originally planned, and will continue until April 16.
Brandon Eichorn, Corelle Brands legal operations director, wrote in a letter to the state that customer demands may require some employees remain on the job beyond the anticipated layoff date.
