The German group of companies Quarzwerke has announced the opening of a processing plant for the production of enriched quartz sand for glass industry in the area Sengiley region, Russia.
The total investment amounted to more than 1.2 billion rubles, according to the regional government.
“It is planned that the performance of the original factory sands should reach approximately 1.3 million tons per year,” the company said in a statement.
At the first stage of development, the mine will produce 350,000 tons of enriched quartz sand annually. The designed capacity is planned at the end of 2013.
