Remondis has started construction of a glass recycling facility in Poland.
The facility in Pila, 100km north of Poznan, is scheduled to begin operations at the end of this year.
It started the construction of a new recycling plant due to the decommissioning of the old one that has existed here since 2007.
The reasons for the construction are the increased requirements of glassworks, the changing customer market, improved working conditions of staff and reduced environmental impact (dust reduction, energy consumption reduction).
The new plant will have capacity of 200 kt instead of 160 kt. It will sort glass into three colours instead of flint and mix cullet. Product conversion will also be greater - reducing the amount of post-production waste.
The technology provider will be Redwave.
