According to a report by IMS Research, a supplier of market research, photovoltaic (PV) installations worldwide are expected to grow to between 27.8 gigawatts (GW) and 32.6 GW in 2012, up from 26.9 GW in 2011.
While a weak demand has been predicted in 2012, these figures show that geographic diversity is the market’s strength. While cuts to subsidies in places like Germany, Italy and France have caused concern; this latest report predicts healthy growth in 2012 on a global basis. The market analysts also predict that China is set to become the second largest market, closely followed by Italy.
