French flat glass producer Riou Glass has acquired 100% of the capital of Vidresif, a Spanish glazing manufacturer.
The acquisition will allow Riou Glass to enter the Spanish market, which is part of its expansion plan into Europe.
Riou will benefit from the national market share of Vidresif, and reinforce its catalogue of high-performance technical glasses in the French and Spanish markets.
Vidresif will become the second most important industrial centre of the Riou group, behind Riou Glass VIP, the historic factory based in Boulleville, Normandy, France.
Christine Riou Feron, President of Riou Glass, said: “We are delighted to welcome Vidresif and its entire team to Riou Glass. This strategic acquisition is the expression of our desire to continue developing Riou Glass in Europe.
“Vidresif's know-how, position in the market and ultra-modern facilities are a true asset. It allows us to strengthen our value proposition for both Spanish companies and French clients.”
Vidresif has an annual turnover of €25 million and 115 employees.
Its industrial facilities of 15,000m2 are located in Girona, Spain, where it can transform over 175,000m2 of glass.
Vidresif manufacturers and designs products by digitally printing on glass, including large-sized glass for architecture and construction.
This includes tempered, laminated, tempered-laminated glass, and above all, coated glass that provides insulation, energy efficiency, solar protection and safety.
Joan Sánchez Mauri, General Director of Vidresif, said: “Riou Glass is an independent, producer and transformer group, whose reputation does not need to be demonstrated.
“The synergies between both companies are innumerable. Riou presents ambitious growth prospects that will, I am sure, ensure continuity and consolidation as a benchmark in the sector.”
In addition, Vidresif has a logistics platform in the Balearic Islands that allows it to cover the Balearic market; the company has a portfolio of industrial clients in Catalonia, Andorra, the Balearic Islands and the Levant.
