SGD Pharma demonstrated its sustainable glass solutions at a luxury beauty industry packaging event this week.
One solution showcased at LuxePack New York included 20% and 30% PCR glass bottles. These use post-consumer recycled glass to reduce raw material use and energy consumption.
In 2025, the company became the first glass manufacturer in China to gain ISO 14021 certification for this packaging, marking a step forward in PCR glass production for the cosmetics and beauty sector.
The NOVA Lightweight Glass Range was also exhibited, an innovative packaging solution for cosmetic products, which is reported to achieve up to 20% reduction in CO2 emissions compared to standard models.
The final product, the ECLIPSE Refillable Glass Jar, is a refillable packaging solution designed as two separate containers locked together with an innovative assembly, allowing consumers to effortlessly replace the capsules.
Aiming to reduce single-use waste and encourage reuse, the ECLIPSE jar enables the company to continue its commitment to sustainability.
SGD Pharma also spotlighted its decoration capabilities, including cutting-edge Physical Vapour Deposition, lacquering, and screen-printing techniques that remain compatible with recycling processes, ensuring their designs are environmentally responsible.
SGD Pharma targets a 42% reduction in carbon emissions from 2022 by 2030 and 65% by 2040, in line with its sustainability strategy, which includes energy efficiency, responsible sourcing, and workforce inclusion.
The company was once again awarded the EcoVadis Platinum medal this year and is ranked among the top 1% global cosmetic and pharmaceutical glass manufacturers for sustainability performance.
