The Society of Glass Technology’s Melting Technical Committee (MTC) meeting was held at DSF, in Derbyshire, UK in October.

It was the first visit to a refractory company for some time. All members enjoyed the opportunity to see how DSF manufactures a variety of refractory shapes.

Stephanie Mudd, a recent graduate, who works at Saint-Gobain’s Eggborough, UK site and Scott Palethorpe, from AFT, attended the meeting for the first time.

On the 6th December the MCT will again meet at the SGT’s offices at Chapeltown, Sheffield, UK.

The MTC is accepting abstracts from anyone interested in presenting at the Furnace Solutions Conference or delivering a training session during the Training Day.

The theme of next year’s Training Day is ‘Batch plant and its impact on furnace performance’ All abstracts send be sent to Christine Brown at christine@sgt.org
