Sisecam's CEO Görkem Elverici called on the glass industry to collaborate on the plant of the future.
Speaking at this week's Glasstec event in Dusseldorf, he told industry must collaborate if it is to reach its 20250 sustainability targets.
In a 52-minute speech he said the Plant of the Future platform would be an important fixture for the industry.
"What is most important with this platform is we are not going after what is Best in Glass, we are going after what is Next in Glass.
"We know that if we go after Best in Glass right now then it will already be too late."
In front of an audience of about 70 people, who were mostly leaders from glass technology suppliers, that Sisecam had been focused on the project since the last Glasstec in 2022.
"We all know that we need to change things in the future. We are looking at the solutions presented and we are all going after the same visions and initiatives but unfortunately no-one, including ourselves, has been able to find a clear pathway to the 100% solution that we should be going at."
He called on Sisecam's eco system - including technology providers, competitors and customers to participate in the platform.
"We want to bring all stakeholders of the industry together in a challenge-based platform, where we start with putting down the issues and then try to optimise and find a best range of possible solutions to the challenges we have.
"This is a challenge involving innovation and collaboration to explore and implement solutions that might be required for the next issues."
It would be an open platform where people would be willing to participate and share ideas.
"There will be no restrictions of ownership of development, we are not going after IP's.
"What we are going after is an open innovation platform where we create new values together and share outcomes together."
Anyone interested in participating should contact Sisecam's managers to discuss further.
