Sorg has commissioned a furnace after a reconstruction at Shanghai Sediver Glass, China.
The German glass engineering company designed and built a regenerative endport furnace with two forehearths in 2015.
The furnace reconstruction took 70 days from glass to glass and was carried out under Sorg’s supervision.
The furnace is used for the production of high-voltage insulators, and was due for reconstruction.
In view of the furnace’s performance and the glass conditioning process, it was rebuilt and partially optimised.
The regenerators were redesigned with increased capacity, and the pull of the furnace increased to 130 tpd.
A third production line was also added.
Sorg also designed and supplied the necessary equipment components, such as the reversal system and electrode holders.
For glass conditioning, the company supplied air/gas stations, gas supply stations and combustion air fans.
The SCADA system was also adapted to the modified plant configuration.
