Sorg Polska, formerly Techglass, has reconstructed the second furnace at Qemetica Glass’s site in Iłowa, Poland.
The company was awarded the contract for the modernisation and complete furnace renewal.
This included the batch house, and the batch and cullet transport.
The scope of supply ranged from the design and construction to the delivery of the steel, the refractory material, working end, forehearths and regenerators.
It also included the heating up and filling.
As part of the work, the gas fired furnace was modified to enable a boosting system to be installed at a later date, supporting more flexible operation as a hybrid furnace.
Sorg Polska also provided systems for the heating, cooling and exhaust gas, as well as transporting the IS machines, and their cabling and piping.
Qemetica Glass is part of chemical group Qemetica, which creates products such as soda ash, a vital raw material for glass production.
Qemetica Glass has produced glass containers since 1946, and is Poland's largest manufacturer of glass lanterns for grave lights.
Sorg Polska would like to thank Qemetica Glass for their trust and co-operation on the project, and wishes the manufacturer a long and successful furnace campaign.
