A Barcelona-based architect has created a spherical glass solar energy generator, which uses a ball lens filled with water to concentrate the sun’s rays into a beam of solar energy.
André Broessel, of design company Rawlemon, claims that the Beta.torics (β.torics) optical system is able to "concentrate sunlight up to 10,000 times" its original strength and is 35% more efficient than the traditional “dual-axis” (motorised) solar panels.
It can also generate solar energy from moonlight.
