Vesuvius continues business as usual despite the fury of Hurricane Florence.
The glass producer was hit by Hurricane Florence on 14th September in Dillon, South Carolina. The storm caused enormous flooding and knocked out power supplies.
Marcus Bancroft, Sales Manager – Americas, said: “Fortunately, we had plenty of warning that the storm was coming, so our team did everything we could in the preceding days to accelerate deliveries and minimise any disruption to our customers.”
Many local roads, including the main Interstate I-95, were impassable and numerous bridges were washed away.
“We are pleased to report that all our employees are safely accounted for, our factory is undamaged, production has already restarted, and we expect no significant disruption to our deliveries provided the trucking companies are also able to resume service.”
Vesuvius is a producer of fused silica glass tempering rolls, which is used in the production of flat and curved safety glass. 80 employees produce a wide variety of fused silica products for use in glass fabricating, metallurgical and other industries.
“We know how critical our products are to client operations, and we want to provide reassurance that the excellent service and quality for which Vesuvius is renowned, will continue.”
