Global glass bottle packager Verallia has been awarded a platinum medal by EcoVadis for its commitment to social and environmental responsibility.
With a score of 75 out of 100, the packager received the highest distinction awarded by the platform.
The ranking places Verallia among the top 1% of the 85,000 most virtuous companies for social and environmental responsibility.
Created in 2007, EcoVadis evaluates companies on their corporate social responsibility (CSR) policy and actions based on the environment, social and human rights, ethics and responsible purchasing.
At the top of Verallia’s criteria is its environmental commitment, which is reflected in the company’s following objectives:
- Reduce CO2 emissions, Scope 1 and Scope 2, by 46% in 2030 compared to 2019.
- Achieve a 66% cullet use rate by 2030, with a first step of 59% by 2025.
- Become a carbon neutral company by 2050.
Verallia’s measures for the three other assessment areas will include: implementing a health and safety policy that also covers the group’s subcontractors, improving wellbeing in the workplace, a compliance policy for areas such as the development of new training, and continuing to comply with CSR requirements.
Laëtitia Fabre, Chief Sustainability Officer at Verallia, said: “The rating awarded by EcoVadis rewards the collective work undertaken at all levels of the group across the world. Day after day, we are working to improve our performance in terms of social and environmental responsibility in the service of one ambition: to reimagine glass for a sustainable future.”
