Argentinian president Cristina Fernández de Kirchner helped inaugurate Verallia’s third furnace at its Mendoza, Argentina plant.
She spoke via videoconference on the work accomplished by the Verallia teams and on the importance of the project to Argentina.
The third furnace is dedicated to the production of still and sparkling wine bottles and cost $70M (€54M). Its construction began in March 2011 and was completed during Q2 this year.
The site’s storage capacity for raw materials and cullet has also increased due to the construction of new silos (sand, limestone and soda ash).
It will lead to a 40 to 50% increase in production capacity and means Verallia is equipped to support the development of its clients in the wine world, especially in the exports market.
