Vetropack has started its second restored furnace (F83) at the Ukrainian production site in Hostomel near Kyiv.
Demand for glass packaging in Ukraine grew by double digits in 2024, with similarly strong prospects for 2025 and next year.
The furnace had been severely damaged in the early weeks of the war.
Over the past two years, the team on site has rebuilt the unit under extraordinary conditions: Large quantities of solidified residual glass had to be removed by hand, and the technology was restored piece by piece.
Nearly three years after the damage, operations are now resuming.
“The restart of F83 is a significant step towards normalisation and regaining our former market strength in the region”, said Johann Reiter, CEO of the Vetropack Group.

This move strengthens Vetropack’s market position domestically and in neighbouring export markets such as Romania.
