Vetropack is planning to develop a plant for the treatment of waste glass packaging.
Vetropack Straža, the Croatian branch of Swiss glass container manufacturer Vetropack, plans to invest between €30 to €35 million into the plant.
The company is the only manufacturer of glass packaging in the Republic of Croatia.
It employs about 700 workers and exports around 70% of its production to European Union markets.
Plans for the plant were discussed during Minister Šušnjar’s visit to Vetropack Straža’s site in Hum na Sutli.
The minister visited the production plant and discussed the current investments, development plans and challenges facing the Croatian manufacturing industry with the company’s management board.
During the visit, Vetropack also presented projects focused on the modernisation of production, energy efficiency, recycling, and the development of the circular economy.
Minister Šušnjar said: “After today's tour of the production plant, it is evident how much Vetropack Straža invests in modernisation, energy efficiency and production development.
“It is the only manufacturer of glass packaging in Croatia and an important company in the Croatian manufacturing industry.”
He also pointed out that Europe is putting industry, energy and technology at the centre of economic policy.
The minister added: “Our goal is to strengthen the production of higher added value, increase productivity and create conditions for new investments, exports and quality jobs.
“Companies like this are an important part of this development.”
The Ministry of Economy is aiming to create a stable framework to strengthen the competitiveness of the Croatian industry through the National Industrial Development Plan of the Republic of Croatia 2027-2034 as well as the Investment Promotion Act.
