Vidrala is driving a decarbonisation project at its Castellar Vidrio plant in Barcelona, Spain.

The company’s Proyecto Tractor project aims to accelerate the transition towards a production model with a lower carbon footprint.

The model should avoid around 13,000 tonnes of CO₂ equivalent per year.

Vidrala’s project is part of the company’s overall decarbonisation and energy efficiency strategy.

It encompasses a set of measures aimed at advancing the decarbonisation of the production process and increasing efficiency.

The project aims to technologically modernise Castellar Vidrio’s melting furnace to increase its level of electrification and reduce the use of fossil fuels.

It also plans to optimise the annealing lehrs and implement improvements across different stages of the industrial process to achieve higher levels of energy efficiency.
