Vitro to use protective nanocoating

Mexican flat and container glass group Vitro is to use a multi-functional protective glass coating for its news E2C (easy-to-clean) product.

Its Vitro Vidrio y Cristal group has signed an agreement with Diamon-Fusion International (DFI), a developer of hydrophobic nanotechnologies, for the use of the coating.

The supply of DFI's proprietary CVD chamber 3D system and the launch the E2C product are set for Q1 2013.

Alberto Hernandez Tellez, VP Float Glass Business of Vitro, said: "DFI has been the most consistent and proven technology, for over 10 years, when it comes to protecting glass with a durable easy-to-clean feature.

“We've also considered the strength of the process itself, the most industrial flexibility, plus DFI's capability of treating the entire glass, in a 3D fashion, like no other coating. DFI's nanocoating also provides an eco-friendly benefit essential in today's market."
