The first low-iron solar glass line in India, which is installed at Gujurat Borosil, is successfully operating with a forehearth from Zedtec, a UK-based supplier that forms part of the TECO Group.

The line has been operational for 12 months, producing high-quality solar glass with a transmission of 91.6% and a capacity to produce 4.3 million square metres of solar glass per year.

Zedtec has now provided dedicated distributors and forehearths to solar glass producers in eight different countries, with tonnages of up to 180 tons per day per line and ribbon widths of up to 2800mm.

“The input of Zedtec’s forehearth and distributor technology within the solar glass industry is testament to how we have worked closely with our customers over many years,” says David Senior, Zedtec’s Technical Sales Manager. “By understanding our clients’ needs and processes and developing and formulating our technology to suit these changes, we are able to play an integral part in major developments in glass manufacturing.”
