Zippe has completed a major order for the Vetropack Group at its Boffalora, Italy glass manufacturing facility.

The order was for a batch plant with two cullet return systems for the production facility located near Milan.

The batch plant is designed to feed two melting furnaces. The raw materials are weighed by means of seven container scales.

When it comes to the mixing technology, three high capacity mixers are used. Cullet is added after the mixing process by nine dosing belt scales.

Two cullet return systems were also part of Zippe’s scope of supply.

Both are equipped with Zippe’s scraping and crushing technology. Zippe carried out the project on a turnkey basis.

The scope of supply comprised of steelwork, silos, equipment and electrical control system.

Zippe’s control system is based on a redundant architecture based on Siemens PCS7 including a high available network.

It is also part of a plantwide automation control concept. Zippe was also responsible for the services on site such as installation, piping, cabling, commissioning and training of customer personnel.

The plant was successfully put into operation recently.

An interview with Vetropack’s CEO, Johann Reiter, is available in the June issue of Glass International.
